Finally, after months and months of waiting and making countless tweaks to the long awaited Ep, it’s finally here. The response I have received from those who have taken the time to listen and reply has been outstanding thus far.
First off I have to let people know this project was the idea of the mastermind of a producer Ryan Turner, also known as Click’N’Spark. He had made a beat tape by the name of I Hate you Ryan Turner. On this five track beat tape he had the beats in order of how he wanted the project (if one could be made) to flow. He told me about it one night while I was drinking and playing the beat tape. I responded with, “that would be a good idea if anyone could do it”. I honestly didn’t think I could have pulled it off. Then one night I was sitting in my living room four glasses in on Vodka and Cranberry and turned on his beat tape. In that instant I grabbed my keyboard and pecked out the first five songs back to back. All the songs are not true, not a single one of them are. I really wanted to write this in a way that when someone heard it they could honestly say “I relate to what he saying”, or “I been through the same thing”. Don’t just like the song, understand the songs, really relate to it, and understand what the message was. The song “Twilight Lovers” took me around three weeks to write. I could not figure out exactlly how i wanted to go about writing the song.
The CD itself has been recorded for more than two months to three months, but I kept on telling myself that I can make this better, this has to be one of the better projects I have put out. I have never done a concept album before so it was a big deal to me to pull it off on the first try.
Aside from the songs, the cover is my favorite part of the album. Gemini Grafix (Krystle Gamrak) came through as always and delivered a stunning visual aide to go along with the detailed words. While Charles Hamer stood outside with me snapping photos and tossing ideas back and forth with me and we visually mapped out where the images would be on a wall that I would be looking at. The whole photo taking took about twenty minutes.
None of this would have been possible if it had not been for my girlfriend Renata who provided the equipment I used to record with. A major piece to a small puzzle. SO there you have how this project came about, it was a long process and one I will never forget. I hope you listen, download and enjoy.
